Granite Creek Copper Ltd. (GCX:TSX.V) acquired and is processing airborne geophysical data for its Stu copper-gold project in the central Yukon, it announced in a news release.
The Vancouver-based company plans to model the new information, which includes magnetic and radiometric surveys that show distinctive signatures of known deposits and their mineralization. As well, it will analyze the surface geochemistry, drilling and geologic data to better define and prioritize targets for its next exploration program at Stu.
With these new data plus the historical data, along with those from the company's 2019 exploration program, the metals explorer aims to "develop a predictive model of the geologic and structural controls for Minto-style copper and gold mineralization to guide future exploration," the release explained.
Since Granite Creek Copper acquired the Yukon project, it has been developing, from various sources, an exploration database of information related to the Minto and Carmacks districts, on which Stu is on trend.
Tim Johnson, president and CEO of Granite Creek Copper, stated, "The acquisition and modelling of this airborne geophysical survey is a major advancement for the Stu project for use in the next phase of drill targeting. The combination of comprehensive geologic, geochemical and geophysical data layers will allow for refinement and prioritization of targets with the objective of identifying those areas that have the best potential to quickly advance towards resource definition. We look forward to providing additional updates on the technical work programs on the Stu Copper-Gold project in the coming weeks and months."
